Seizure of cash and kind goes up
ITANAGAR, Apr 05: Flying Squad and Static Surveillance Teams operating in the State under Election Commission of India to control violation of Model Code of Conduct have made seizure of cash Rs. 2,00,000 (Rs Two lack) only, IMFL 750 ML 24 Bottles, IMFL 180 ML 33 Bottles, Beer 650 ML 05 Bottles, Local Dao 12 Nos, Pamphlets 7100 Nos, INC/BJP Flag 1009 Nos, Muffler 39 Nos, Posters 1500 Nos and Sticker 700 on April 4.
Since the operation of MCC a total cash Rs. 2,34,00,530 has been seized so far. Huge number of party flags, manifestos, pamphlets, stickers, blankets, local daos, arms and ammunitions etc were also seized till date, according to release issued by State Nodal Officer.
Bazaar committees urge authority check double voting
ITANAGAR, Apr 05: A joint meeting of Banderdewa Bazaar Welfare Committee (BBWC), Arunachal Pradesh and Banderdewa Babosaik Santha, Assam was held under the initiative of BBWC General Secretary Kipa Hipik to discuss regarding possible double voting at both Assam and Arunachal during the upcoming election by some unscrupulous electors of Assam, who are living in Arunachal Pradesh with different occupations.
Arunachal goes for polls on April nine while the first phase of parliamentary election in Assam will be held on April 7.

ITANAGAR, Apr 05: NHPC Limited has been adjudged the winner of the award for ‘Best Value Creating Miniratna’ at the 5th DSIJ PSU Awards.
ABL Srivastava, Director (Finance), received the award on behalf of NHPC from TKA Nair, Adviser to Prime Minister of India in New Delhi on April two.

On thorough checking the money was found stashed in the spare tyres of the two vehicles. The amount has been sealed and put up in the treasury. Cong intensifies election campaign in state
ITANAGAR: Apr 05: Yesteryear funny man of Bollywood, Govardhan Asrani, popularly known simply as Asrani continued his campaigning for the Congress and addressed huge rallies at Seppa (East Kameng), Bomdila (West Kameng), Sagalee (Papum Pare) and Naharlagun (Capital) with élan.
The energy, however, concentrated on hailing the Congress and dissecting the opposition, particularly BJP. Lambasting the main opposition party and its Prime Ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi, Asrani labeled Modi as someone without any reason begging to become the Prime Minister of India. “I ask them (Modi and team) what makes Modi qualify to become the Prime Minister? What is his background? What sacrifice has he made except for remaining a bachelor?” Asrani questioned in his inimitable style.
He claimed Congress is a party, whose leaders gave supreme sacrifices and pointed that while Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi sacrificed their lives, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi sacrificed the most powerful post of the country.
“Your one vote is a golden coin. You have two service providers. One with only hatred, divisive policies, false promises and one with commitment, secular policies and a proved history of sacrifices. Don’t waste your golden coin. Invest it on the later,” he appealed.
Chief Minister Nabam Tuki and Arunachal West Lok Sabha candidate Takam Sanjoy also addressed the rallies as electioneering in the state entered the final phases.
Tuki read out the commitments of the Congress party if it comes back to power and appealed the electorates to judge themselves and not get carried away by high sounding speeches and advertisements of the Opposition. He reiterated that there is no enmity with any individual candidate but in politics, he said, the battle of ballots has to be fought on the basis of party ideologies. “And when ideologies come into the battle of ballots, enmity has to be considered on party lines only,” Tuki observed.
“Congress has been your partner in development all these years. Today it is Congress versus the Opposition. You have to take sides and if you are intelligent, which you are, you will take only one side…the side of the Congress…both in the fight for the Assembly as well as the Lok Sabha,” the Chief Minister added.

RUKSIN, Apr 05:With four days to go for the polls, the ruling Congress party and opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have intensified their election campaign in four assembly constituencies under East Siang district.

ITANAGAR, Apr 05: Movement of polling personnel to polling stations in Anjaw district
will start in batch-
In view of bad weather and rough geographic location, the first batch of polling teams for 51 polling stations are scheduled to leave in advance for their respective polling stations under Kibithoo, Walong, Chaglagam and Hawai circles tomorrow.
Of those polling stations, Glotonglat and Pailiang (Doringko) polling stations are difficult to reach as the polling officials will have to march on foot for about five to eight hours on rough hilly terrain along with their polling materials. The polling officials of 22 polling stations would move from Hayuliang on April 7 and the teams of eight polling stations on April 8.

The election is a national duty, but funnier sides galore

An election comes once in five years. But on many occasions the election comes earlier
than that. There are no two opinions about the fact that election in India is a huge
exercise that involves millions of money, machineries and manpower. Almost all the
government employees belonging to both the central and state governments are pressed
into service during the election that carry out different duties which are all important
and condition sine qua non for a successful polling. It may be mentioned here that
during the election all the government employees are under the direct control of
the powerful ECI. They all have to strictly adhere to the strictures passed by the
ECI. The preparation for any election is a huge and strenuous job and most of the
work will have to be completed well in advance to avoid last minute complicacies.
The hardworking and duty-
But amidst all these talks of serious work, preparations, sincere workers, sleepless
nights etc, there are also many habitual escapists who want to get exempted from
election duties at any cost. Such people first go to the notice board where the lists
of names of polling officials are displayed. The moment they find out that they had
been deputed election duty in a remote or far-
It is rather intriguing as to why some officials try to shy away from a national duty like the election. They should take it as a privilege and an honour to conduct an election. Its great fun going to the polling stations situated in the villages with one’s colleagues. It’s like a picnic or an outing. These escapists should realize that elections are not held every day. They should enjoy doing a national duty. When I was young working in East Kameng district, considered one of the hardest places of posting those days, I had conducted two elections as Presiding officer in interior places. We had to walk for hours crossing hills and valleys. I used to enjoy going to the interior places for conducting elections. Those days, people were also innocent and very warm. Goats and chickens used to be very cheap so, we used to buy and enjoy. Very unfortunately, during one of the general elections, late Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated and we all were called back without conducting the polls. The government officials must consider the election duty as sacred and a privilege. They should not look for excuses rather they should accept the challenge and prove that they are capable of conducting a poll smoothly without any bias. The SP Capital SP Kuruvilla briefed on the security arrangement and the deployment of security personnel at each polling station. Explaining the security arrangement, the SP informed that in every polling station adequate security personnel would be deployed along with lady constable wherever possible so that there is no breach of law. He also informed that every sector magistrate would be provided with a patrolling team and additional forces for any kind of emergency. Later, the magistrates also shared their suggestions and grievances with both the RO and SP.
Earlier, in the morning the EAC cum Aero Itanagar Jiken Bomjen in a small meeting had briefed polling attendants and reserved polling attendants of 13th Itanagar Assembly Constituency on their role and also provided them with details of their polling station.

Nagaland CM campaigns for NPF candidates
ITANAGAR, Apr 05: Notwithstanding strong opposition from various NGOs and students’ union to entry of Naga People’s Front (NPF) in Arunachal’s politics, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio along with some of his cabinet colleagues campaigned for NPF candidates contesting in Arunachal Pradesh assembly election.
Addressing an NPF election rally at Lazu for Khonsa West (ST) assembly constituency candidate Phawang Lowang yesterday, Rio stated that the Naga people irrespective of their political and territorial differences should first understand their identity and come together for a political settlement.
“Whether they are from underground or over ground they need to come together and fight for our common goal,” Rio said, while stated that Phawang Lowang and all other contesting NPF candidates in the Arunachal Assembly election will be recorded in the Naga history.”

He said that he will take the matter seriously when he goes back to Dimapur and action will be taken against those culprits.
Rio, who himself is contesting in the LS election, expressed the confidence that five to six candidates out of 12 regional party candidates contesting in the ensuing election in North East will win election. He also said that NFP is forming alliance with BJP and the NDA will emerge victorious.
Alleging that some supporters of the INC candidates were trying to disturb the NPF rally at Lazu, Rio said that four persons of Lower Chinhan village were physically assaulted on April two for allegedly extending support to the NPF candidate by some miscreants. They were even threatened of dire consequences if they do not cast vote in favour of the Congress candidate, he claimed.
While appreciating the stand of NCSN (IM), who reportedly took decision to maintain the principle of free and fair election, the Tirap unit of NPF appealed to the authority concerned to take appropriate action against the violators of the decision of their own ‘government’.
